Specht Studio is Stephanie’s active workspace, but will regularly be used as an exhibition space. The studio was designed by architect Nicolas Pétillon, with the help of Klein Agency. It is tucked away in an old building materials warehouse, and home to several creative entrepreneurs. It will be the birthplace of many new books, illustrations and other graphic designs.
To celebrate its launch Specht Studio has released a limited 'Almöst Summer' sweater and totebag collection. The simple design is a collaboration with her boyfriend Yannick Vermeire and saw the light on December 31, 2014, to brighten up the gray winter days. A design with a good dose of humor.
STEPHANIE SPECHT (° 1982)
Stephanie Specht is a modern nomad. After having lived in Cape Town, Princeton, New York and Brussels, she returned to her hometown of Antwerp. Stephanie is a graphic designer (working since 2007) with a strong focus on branding, book design and illustration work. Her very own and distinctive style is feminine, sensitive and playful. Her illustrations are typified by an almost analytical fragmentation of shapes and patterns, in combination with a fresh color palette. Stephanie likes to play with various style movements, without losing her own style.
Stephanie has an international customer and client base. She already designed identities for book and coffee bar Buchbar, artist Leon Vranken, Osar Architects, and the LA-based interior designers 'Matters of Space'. Besides the design of her own book 'These Five Years', which was released in 2012, she also designed the recently published books 'Ugly Belgian Houses' and 'Scandinavian Designers at Work.' She’s currently working on illustrations for design e-store Bezar, Picture Room (New York) and New York based textile company Divatex. For Divatex, Stephanie designed a capsule collection proposed to large chains like Macy's and Bloomingdale's. Furthermore, Picture Room asked her to create unique work for the gallery, which will be shown from June 12 in New York. Also on the agenda for 2015 is the branding for 'Off the Record’, a new music television show for Canvas (Belgian Television).
