Graanmarkt 13 would like to invite you to the festive opening of 'valerie_objects at The Apartment' from 6 pm on Thursday 12 May. Please confirm your attendance via email@example.com.
The new design label valerie_objects is an initiative by Axel Van Den Bossche, Frank Lambert and art director Veerle Wenes (Valerie Traan Gallery). The combination of their own professional and personal preferences and their desire to communicate pieces by designers and artists to the right target groups has led to the brand-new design label valerie_objects.
The label is based in Antwerp and creates its collection through collaborations with designers, architects and artists. The aim is to translate the works of these creative spirits into tangible objects. The emphasis will always lie on authentic creators, on pieces which stem from careful consideration and have been designed and produced by intelligent hands. Valerie_objects actively seeks out objects which already exist but have not yet seen the light of day.
ABOUT MULLER VAN SEVEREN
In 2011, photographer Fien Muller and sculptor Hannes Van Severen made their debut as a design duo in the Valerie Traan Gallery. However, what perhaps began as a pleasant diversion for these two visual artists at the frontier of art and design quickly gained a new dimension. Their joint furniture project attracted international attention almost immediately and their sculptural furniture can be admired at leading galleries and museums in Belgium, London, Berlin, Milan, Copenhagen, Paris and New York.
Muller Van Severen is the first artist duo to work with valerie_objects. A wide selection of their work has been compiled and is now available all over the world.
ABOUT THE CUTLERY PROJECT
A cutlery collection by international designers: Jinhyun Jeon (KR/NL), Muller Van Severen (B), Maarten Baas (NL), Studio Simple (B/NL), Koichi Futatsumata (JPN) and Studio Wieki Somers (NL). In fact, they all created the same thing: a set of utensils to eat with (prototypes). Spoons, forks and knives. The result: six surprising and unusual sets of luxury cutlery which are a treat for the eyes, hands and mouth.
The sets by Maarten Baas and Koichi Futatsumata will be for sale at Graanmarkt 13.
